Harris County Precinct 3 Deputy Constable Raymond Nieto responded to a call for law enforcement assistance, on December 16, 1998, involving a juvenile suspect on Sheldon Road in Eastern Harris County. Deputy Nieto, 42, was in the process of apprehending the suspect when the juvenile struck Deputy Nieto in his chest several times with his head. After arresting the suspect and placing him in a patrol car, Deputy Nieto had a massive heart attack and fell to the ground. Other deputies at the scene performed CPR on Deputy Nieto who was then life-flighted to Herman Hospital where he died. Deputy Nieto is survived by his wife Margaret and two sons, Jeremy and Jonathan.
