Sergeant
Kent D. Kincaid and his wife were riding in their family vehicle
when something struck their windshield. Believing it was thrown
from a truck occupied by several teenagers, Sergeant Kincaid stopped
them and approached unarmed, identifying himself as a police officer.
Anthony Hayes shot Sgt. Kincaid while discussing the incident. It
was later determined that Hayes had shot Sgt. Kincaids windshield
in an attempt to stop and rob him. Anthony Hayes was convicted of
Capital Murder and was sentenced to death by lethal injection.
