Officer Dennis Holmes was assigned to the Auto Theft Division. He was in the process of arresting two auto theft suspects in the 1600 block of Robin Road when a scuffle occurred. Officer Holmes suffered a heart attack as a result of the encounter and passed away.

Some time elapsed before the final results of Officer Holmes’ death were processed; however, it was determined that the death was indeed a result of the course and scope of his duty as a police officer.
