Officer Dawn S. Erickson, while off-duty, was directing traffic for Christmas services at the United Church of Christianity located in the 2900 block of Hillcroft. She was struck by an on-coming vehicle and transported to Ben Taub Hospital where she died in surgery as a result of massive head injuries. No charges were filed in this case.
