On November
5, 1993 at approximately 5:00 a.m. Officer Les Early was participating
in the execution of a narcotics arrest and search warrant. Officer
Early was the point man on the department's S.W.A.T. team who had
been asked to execute the warrant due to the high risk nature of the
location. The
location was a fortified drug house making entry dangerous. As the
S.W.A.T. team entered the residence gunfire erupted and officer Early
was struck one time near the collarbone. He was rushed to a local
hospital where he died shortly after arrival. The suspect in the case
was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently serving a life
sentence in the Texas Department of Corrections. Officer Early was
survived by his wife and young son. |
