111James C. Boswell • December 9th 1989

Officer James Charles "Boz" Boswell and his partner, Officer C. Gainer, were on a traffic stop when a complainant from a prior scene approached them for additional information. Officer Boswell advised the complaint that they would be of assistance as soon as possible. Craig Neil Ogan then approached, demanding assistance from the officers. Officer Boswell repeatedly advised him to wait, but Ogan demanded immediate assistance. As officer Boswell was unlocking the rear door of his patrol vehicle, Ogan produced a firearm from his right jacket pocket and shot Officer Boswell in the head. Officer Boswell died at the scene. Ogan attempted to flee the area but was shot by Officer Boswell’s partner. Ogan was convicted of Capital Murder and was executed by lethal injection.
