Deputy Wilburn Junior ”Will” Agy, age 45, was working an extra job as security at a local shopping center in Southwest Houston. At approximately 11pm, he had gone into the video store at the shopping center as part of his routine checks.

He was at the counter with his back to the door, speaking to the clerk, when two masked black gunmen walked into the store. The first gunman rushed Deputy Agy while the second gunman accosted the clerk at gunpoint. The first gunman grabbed Deputy Agy from behind, before he had a chance to react, forced him to the ground and shot him at point blank range, one time, behind the right ear.

According to witnesses the two gunmen fled on foot and where last seen northbound on Fondren Street and are still at large.

Deputy Wilburn Agy was a 9 year veteran peace officer, having worked at Dayton Police Dept. and Sour Lake Police Dept. before joining the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Agy is survived by his wife Rita and two daughters Ali and Tracey, all of Dayton.
