Officer Richard H. Calhoun and other officers had surrounded a house at 9410 Avenue J where three escaped TDC prisoners were held up. Uniform Officers were shot at while entering the house. Officer Calhoun was leading the way when he was hit in the neck and killed. The shoot out continued and the house caught fire. All three suspects were killed.
